New Finds of a Small Anthropoid Primate from Nachola, Northern Kenya
نویسنده
چکیده
Twenty two specimens of a small anthropoid primates, discovered at Nachola during the field seasons of 1982-86. are described in detail. One mandibular fragment is inculuded in the material, but other specimens are isolated teeth, including upper and lower molars and lower premolars. The material is considered to belong to Nyanzapithecus.

Efficiency Performance of Manufacturing Companies in Kenya: Evaluation and Policies
The objective of this paper is to determine the efficiency of manufacturing companies in Kenya over the period of 2009 to 2011 as well as suggesting appropriate policies to be employed by the manufacturing companies in Kenya based on the findings of the study. Three critical inputs variables (raw materials, staff expenses and plant and machinery) and two output variables (net sale and earnings ...
متن کاملA new Late Eocene primate from the Krabi Basin (Thailand) and the diversity of Palaeogene anthropoids in southeast Asia.
According to the most recent discoveries from the Middle Eocene of Myanmar and China, anthropoid primates originated in Asia rather than in Africa, as was previously considered. But the Asian Palaeogene anthropoid community remains poorly known and inadequately sampled, being represented only from China, Myanmar, Pakistan and Thailand. Asian Eocene anthropoids can be divided into two distinct g...
متن کاملApithecus Postcranial Specimens from Nachola, Kenya
Twenty nine postcranial specimens of a Kenyapithecus species, discovered at Nachola during the field seasons 1984 and 1986, are described in detail. The specimens come from baboon-sized animals, with a baboon-like degree of sexual dimorphism in size. This species of Kenyapithecus was a predominantly arboreal animal, utilizing a combination of pronograde quadrupedalism and orthograde climbing an...
متن کاملNoncoding origins of anthropoid traits and a new null model of transposon functionalization.
Little is known about novel genetic elements that drove the emergence of anthropoid primates. We exploited the sequencing of the marmoset genome to identify 23,849 anthropoid-specific constrained (ASC) regions and confirmed their robust functional signatures. Of the ASC base pairs, 99.7% were noncoding, suggesting that novel anthropoid functional elements were overwhelmingly cis-regulatory. ASC...
متن کاملMiddle Eocene primate tarsals from China: implications for haplorhine evolution.
We describe tarsal remains of primates recovered from the Middle Eocene (approximately 45 mya) Shanghuang fissures in southern Jiangsu Province, China. These tarsals document the existence of four higher-level taxa of haplorhine primates and at least two adapid species. The meager and poorly preserved adapid material exhibits some similarities to European adapines like Adapis. The haplorhine pr...
